Description
Brooks Rosé of Pinot Noir 2024
This vibrant rosé is a meticulously crafted expression of 100% Pinot Noir, sourcing fruit from a collection of standout sites in the Willamette Valley to create a harmonious profile. The specific composition includes 43% from Muska Vineyard and 18% from Sunny Mountain Vineyard (featuring the 828 clone) to provide a structural backbone. To enhance elegance and roundness, the blend incorporates 19% from Cortell-Rose Vineyard, 9% from Hyde Vineyards (Pommard clone), and 11% from Hyde Vineyard's 115 clone.
The 2024 vintage was a standout season defined by an early bud break followed by a warm, dry summer that allowed for extended hang time and complex flavor development. Although the region experienced a brief heatwave in July, the cool nights of the Eola-Amity Hills AVA—aided by cooling ocean breezes—helped maintain vibrant acidity. Grown in the region's famed volcanic soils, the fruit was harvested in early October under ideal conditions, resulting in exceptional concentration and quality.
Visually, the wine presents a beautiful, vibrant pink color that suggests freshness immediately. The nose is a lively explosion of summer produce, featuring primary aromas of watermelon, ripe strawberries, raspberries, and cherries. On the palate, this is a dry, light-bodied wine with a texture defined by crisp, thirst-quenching acidity. Complex flavors of white cherry, strawberry cream, and red delicious apple skin are layered with subtle savory notes of basil and tarragon. The finish is persistent and driven by bright acidity, leaving a refreshing sensation.
Brooks maintains a rigorous commitment to environmental stewardship, evidenced by their status as a Demeter-certified Biodynamic producer, a certified B Corporation, and a member of 1% for the Planet. This holistic farming approach translates directly to the energy in the glass. Winemaking is equally thoughtful, utilizing whole-cluster direct-pressing for the majority of the fruit to preserve delicate aromatics. The wine is fermented entirely in stainless steel to maintain its crisp fruit character and purity.
Ideally suited for dining, this rosé pairs beautifully with classic American summer cuisine. Try it with grilled chicken served alongside a fresh corn and tomato salad; the wine's acidity cuts through the richness of the poultry while harmonizing with the sweet corn. It also shines with spicy shrimp tacos, where the crisp profile acts as a refreshing palate cleanser against the heat. Noted critic Owen Bargreen awarded this vintage 91 points, describing it as an "elegant Provence-style Rosé," confirming its status as a high-value offering in the premium rosé category.
